The engine management software could cause the oil/vacuum pump, which supplies vacuum for brake assistance (brake boost), to become damaged.
This may occur when 1) pressing the engine start/stop button two times in rapid succession, or 2) depressing the brake pedal very briefly while pressing the engine start/stop button. This could result in a loss of brake assistance and increased stopping distance, increasing the risk of an accident.
The Toyota Supra vehicles affected by this recall were manufactured between 31 July 2018 and 15 June 2021.
