Toyota RAV4 PHEV (2019 – 2021)

Toyota-RAV4-hybrid-system-shut-down

The voltage of the high voltage (HV) battery may drop rapidly when the accelerator pedal is rapidly pressed to further accelerate the vehicle after it has been continuously driven in “EV mode” in cold outside temperatures. As a result, the hybrid system will shut down, resulting in a loss of motive power, which may lead to an increased risk of an accident.

The Toyota RAV4 PHEV vehicles affected by this recall were manufactured between 26 November 2019 and 17 June 2021.

Toyota recall code: 23SD-003

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
