Due to incorrect programming, the electronic control unit (ECU) of the hybrid vehicle may incorrectly determine the position of the transmission selector lever which could cause the hybrid system to shut down. This could result in a loss of power, increasing the risk of an accident.

The Toyota Prius vehicles affected by this recall were manufactured between 31 May and 2 August 2021.
