Defects in the gas generator of the passenger airbag lead to uncontrolled unfolding when the airbag is triggered. The excessively high internal pressure can damage the airbag casing, metal particles can come loose, causing injuries to the vehicle occupants.
Vehicles produced between 2012 and 2016 are recalled.
