A software error in the engine control unit prevents the malfunction indicator light (MIL) from switching on if the urea injector stops working. This can lead to higher emissions and poses a risk to the environment.

The Peugeot 508 vehicles affected by this recall were manufactured between 15 June 2020 and 21 November 2022.

Update 5. 9. 2025 The malfunction indicator light (MIL) may fail to illuminate if the diagnostic system of the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) and/or the diesel particulate filter (DPF) malfunctions after a fault code has appeared. This could cause the vehicle to operate without the required warning, and resulting in emissions above the regulatory limits.

The Peugeot 508 vehicles affected by this recall were manufactured between 14 October 2016 and 14 May 2021.
