A chemical change in the active substance in the front airbag gas generator can cause an increase in internal pressure. In the event of an accident, the gas generator may burst and injure the occupants of the vehicle with metal fragments. Furthermore, the airbag will not unfold and protect properly in this situation.
The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vehicles affected by this recall were manufactured between 2006 and 2015.
