The Electronic Stability Program (ESP) unit might be damaged; moisture can reach the internal components leading to a short circuit, increasing the risk of fire and/or causing the ESP functions (e.g. vehicle stability control, anti-lock braking systems) to be disabled, increasing the risk of an accident.

The Mercedes-Benz GLB vehicles affected by this recall were manufactured between 19 and 24 October 2020.
