Mercedes-Benz E-Class (2017 – 2020)

Mercedes-Benz-E-Class-starter-cable

Due to a defective screw connection, the starter motor positive cable may become damaged by the relative movements of the starter.

Consequently, the cable could come into contact with the housing of the starter and cause a short circuit, which could lead to an engine stall and an increased risk of fire.

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class models affected by this recall were manufactured between 15 February 2017 and 27 November 2020.

Mercedes recall code: 5491302
Affected models: Vehicles with AMG petrol engine and 4MATIC; Model series: E-Class (BR 213), AMG GT 4-Door Coupé (BR 290)
Vehicle numbers (worldwide): 1 635

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
