The air-conditioning system’s condensed-water drainage hose may be blocked, which may cause water to enter the vehicle’s interior. Consequently, any electrical components installed there could be corroded and/or subjected to short circuits or leakage currents.
As a result, the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) control unit could stop working, the vehicle may fail to start, the engine emergency run could be activated while the vehicle is in motion, and the functioning of other components (e.g. the fuel pump, automatic/manual emergency call) could be adversely affected. This would increase the risk of injury and accident.
The Mercedes-Benz B-Class models affected by this recall were manufactured between 26 August and 10 October 2019.
