A short circuit can occur in the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)/Electronic Stability Program (ESP) module. This could lead to an excessive current flow that can increase the risk of fire in the engine compartment.

The Kia Sportage models affected by this recall were manufactured between 19 March 2015 and 23 October 2020 and are not equipped with smart cruise control (SCC).
