The eCall system (transmitting the vehicle identification number to the emergency call center) could malfunction and not transmit the VIN number of the affected vehicle when an airbag has been deployed.
This can cause a delay in the rescue intervention, leading to increased risk of injury.
The Kia Sorento models affected by this recall were manufactured between 19 June and 14 December 2020.
