Peugeot recalls the SUV 5008 and Métropolis scooters (week 49/18)

Peugeot-wheel-nuts-recall

Two recalls for two models of Peugeot and Mercedes-Benz were announced in the 49th week of 2018. Peugeot is also represented among the motorcycles this time, announcing the recall for its three-wheeled scooters.

Peugeot´s SUV 5008 left the production line with poorly tightened wheel bolts for a whole week between the 24th of May and the 1st of June 2018. Although this recall may seem hardly believable, we don´t see this negligence for the first time in the Rapex list. BMW´s X5 and X6 SUV’s built between July 12 and August 2 were recalled for the same reason three weeks ago. Last year, Volkswagen also addressed a similar problem. For the Golf, Golf Variant, Scirocco, Passat, Tiguan, Touran, Sharan, Touareg made between the 8th of September 2016 and the 22nd of December 2016, the wheels were not only badly tightened but the winter tires mounted on it may not have had the correct direction of rotation. Due to poorly tightened wheel bolts, Lancia Ypsilon, Renault Fluence, Renault Clio and Renault Mégane were also recalled in the past.

Mercedes-Benz

The first recall is also announced for the new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. An incorrectly installed wiring harness may jam between the brake pedal and the brake light switch. The brake lights may still be on and the assistance systems may indicate malfunctions.

Motorcycles

Peugeot can also be found among motorcycles in our section located at moto-recalls.eu this week. With Metropolis three-wheeled scooters, the brake fluid may leak from the front brake circuit. This could lead to a reduction or total loss of brake performance.

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
