Opel recalls nearly six million cars for faulty driver airbags

Opel-driver-airbag-recall

Opel is recalling 5,966,894 vehicles of the Astra, Cascada, Meriva, Mokka, Signum, Vectra, and Zafira model series manufactured between 2003 and 2018 to authorized workshops worldwide. The reason for the recall is a fault in the gas generator of the driver’s airbag that leads to uncontrolled deployment when the airbag is deployed.

In an authorised workshop, the driver’s airbag is replaced.

Note: 15 incidents involving property damage and personal injury are known.

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) monitors the recall under the reference number “6625“. The internal manufacturer code is “KBM“.

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
