Opel is recalling 20,800 Grandland X from the production period 2019 to 2023 to the workshop worldwide. This measure is due to water penetration, which can lead to rusting through the battery reinforcement and the battery box. This can lead to a battery or vehicle fire in the worst case.
In the workshop, the corrosion protection between the battery support and the battery box is checked and applied if necessary. If there are no water drainage holes in the carrier of the traction battery, holes with a diameter of 6 mm are drilled in the carrier at specific points. The KBA monitors the measure under the reference number “012669“; the internal manufacturer code is “KC5“.
