Mercedes-Benz is recalling 222,969 vehicles of the Vito/Viano (BR 639) model series manufactured between 3. 12. 2002 and 24. 2. 2006 with earlier replacement of driver airbag during workshop visit. The recall is due to a fault in the gas generator of the driver’s airbag that may lead to uncontrolled deployment when the airbag is deployed and to the release of metal fragments which can injure the occupants.

At an authorised workshop, the airbag is checked and replaced again, if necessary.

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) monitors the recall under the reference number “15198R“. The internal manufacturer code is “9192111, 9192112“.

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
