No braking effect when the pedal is depressed on eight Volvo models

Volvo-XC90-brake-failure-kba

Volvo is recalling 76,365 vehicles of the XC60, S90, V90, S60, XC40, C40, XC90 and V60 model series manufactured between 17. 5. 2019 and 11. 6. 2025. The reason for the recall is that when using B mode (hybrid) or one-pedal drive mode (electric), no braking effect can be achieved with the brake pedal.

Software update is necessary. This update can be carried out remotely via an over-the-air update (OTA). If the vehicle is already equipped with software version 3.6.4 or higher, the corresponding software is already installed. The software version can be found by going to Settings > System > Software update on the vehicle’s touchscreen. If an over-the-air update is available, please install it.

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) monitors the recall under the reference number “15229R“. The internal manufacturer code is “R10329“.

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
