Worldwide, 198,139 Sprinters produced between 2005 and 2017 have to go back to the workshop. The reason for the measure is a fault in the gas generator of the driver and front passenger airbag, which can lead to uncontrolled deployment and the release of metal fragments when the airbag is deployed. The risk of injury to the occupants is increased. In Germany, 123,387 vehicles are affected.
The driver and passenger airbags are replaced in the workshop. The KBA monitors the recall under the reference number “012626“, and the internal code is “NC3PABTKW1 (9192160)“.
