Mercedes-Benz S-Class: The exhaust system may be damaged

Mercedes-Benz-S-Class-2020-2023-exhaust-system-damaged

Mercedes-Benz is recalling 53,180 S-Class vehicles manufactured between 2020 and 2023 to authorized workshops worldwide. The reason for the recall is faulty lambda control software that could lead to an increase in lambda control in the event of an independent hardware fault. This could result in damage to exhaust system components, engine failure and, in the worst case, a fire.

In an authorized workshop, the engine control unit software will be updated.

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) monitors the recall under the reference number “14311R“. The internal manufacturer code is “5496234“.

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
