Mazda has announced a recall for around 105,000 vehicles worldwide. Only the models MX-5, CX-3 and Mazda2 with braking energy recovery system (“i-ELOOP”) are affected.
A short circuit in the DC-DC converter may occur under certain conditions. As a result, the battery may have no longer sufficient power and the engine may stall while driving. In the worst case, a fire may occur.
When the action with the internal code “AJ042A” begins and how long the repair will take is not clear yet. In the workshop, the engine control unit will be checked. “If abnormalities are detected, the DC-DC converter is replaced and the software in the engine control unit is updated,” says the importer.
