Mazda MX-5: An increased risk of accidents when reversing

Mazda is recalling 15,262 vehicles of the MX-5 model series manufactured between 2023 and 2024. The reason for the recall is that a software error may lead to malfunction of the parking aid in conjunction with the intelligent braking system.

“The presence of an obstacle and the distance to the obstacle may not be properly indicated by a display on the screen or an acoustic signal,” Mazda Motors Deutschland (MMD) announced in a letter. In addition, the rearward detection of the Emergency Brake Assist (SBS) could cause problems.

At an authorised workshop, the parking aid control programme is reprogrammed with improved software.

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) monitors the recall under the reference number “14795R“. The internal manufacturer code is “AS001A“.

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
