Kia recalls over 600,000 cars over possible clutch actuator fire

kia-niro-ceed-clutch-fire-kba

Kia is recalling 558,088 vehicles of the Niro HEV and Niro PHEV model series manufactured between 2015 and 2022 and 85,219 vehicles of the Ceed PHEV and Ceed CUV PHEV model series manufactured between 2019 and 2023 to authorised workshops worldwide. The reason for the recall is a short circuit in the hydraulic clutch actuator that can lead to a fire.

In an authorised workshop, the hydraulic clutch actuator (HCA) is checked and replaced if necessary as a preventative measure to minimise potential risks. In addition, a new HCA fuse with a lower capacity will be installed to reduce the possibility of a thermal incident.

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) monitors the recall under the reference numbers “14640R, 14641R“. The internal manufacturer codes are “231113” and “240S01“.

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
