Jeep Renegade: The airbag on the front seat may not deploy

Jeep-Renegade-2019-airbag-kba

Jeep is recalling 210,454 Renegade vehicles manufactured between 2019 and 2023 to authorized workshops worldwide. The reason for the recall is the Hall-effect-sensor of the seat belt buckle switch which is not connected correctly. This can result in the airbag on the front seat not being triggered in the event of an accident.

In an authorised workshop, the plug connection under the seat is replaced by a direct connection of the cables using solder connectors.

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) monitors the recall under the reference number “14393R“. The internal manufacturer code is “82B“.

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
