Jaguar and Land Rover recall older cars for airbags

Jaguar-XF-airbag-kba

Jaguar is recalling 9,244 vehicles of the XF model series manufactured between 2007 and 2015. The reason for the recall is a fault in the gas generator of the front passenger airbag that can lead to uncontrolled deployment and release of metal fragments that can injure the occupants when the airbag is deployed. The same fault, but with the driver’s airbag, can occur with 18,244 vehicles of the F-Pace, XE, and XF model series manufactured between 2015 and 2016.

The driver airbag inflator defect may also be the case in 22,612 Land Rover Discovery Sport models from 2014 to 2016.

At an authorised workshop, the corresponding driver or passenger airbag module is replaced.

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) monitors the recall under the reference number “14829R, 14819R, 14821R“. The internal manufacturer code is “H496, H497, N898“.

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
