Honda Civic: Loss of drive power and fire risk

Honda-Civic-2022-2023-battery-fire

Honda is recalling 643 Civic vehicles manufactured between 1 June 2022 and 31 January 2023 to authorized workshops worldwide. The reason for the recall is that, in a high-voltage battery, a chemical reaction can occur between the electrolyte and the surrounding aluminum material. This can lead to loss of power and a short circuit, resulting in a fire.

In an authorized workshop, the battery module will be replaced.

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) monitors the recall under the reference number “14381R“. The internal manufacturer code is “6LB“.

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
