This week’s recalls:
– Fiat, Opel – rear springs
– Renault – fire risk
– Volkswagen – gas leak

Overview of the recalls in the 44th week of 2024

Four recalls for four models of four manufacturers were issued via EU Safety Gate in week 44 of 2024. Four recalls for seven models of four manufacturers were announced via the German Motor Vehicle Authority (KBA).

One recall can be found in the European Safety Gate system for Fiat, Opel, Renault and Volkswagen.

Audi, BMW, Porsche and Toyota are recalling via the KBA.

Rear springs again

This week’s Fiat Scudo and Opel Vivaro vans recall via Safety Gate completes a whole related model series of French vans that have a problem with rear springs. On cars built in the first half of 2024, the rear springs can come loose and, in the worst case, fall to the road while driving. The recalls also affect previously recalled Peugeot, Citroen, and Toyota vans. In total, around five thousand vehicles are involved.

Renault Master: Fire risk

The fuel line is routed too close to the wiring harness on 80,173 Renault Master vans built between 2014 and 2023. This can cause gradual mutual abrasion and subsequent fuel leakage with a risk of fire. The Masters were first recalled for this fault in week 32 of 2024.

Gas leak with Crafter camper

Volkswagen announced a fault in the gas line of the camper Grand California in a recall in 2019 already. This week, it is recalling 1318 cars built from the start of 2024 to this August. The gas leak could cause an explosion, fire, or injury to occupants.

Details on this week’s Rapex recalls can be found in the table below.

We write about the KBA recalls in the following articles:

Rapex Recalls announced in the 44th week of 2024

Make, Model (year) Problem

Opel Vivaro (2024) Incorrectly installed springs may result in restricted driving behaviour.
Renault Master (2014 – 2023) The diesel fuel line is too close to the wiring harness, which can cause the fuel line to rub against the wires and wear out.

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
