Engine failure in several Mercedes models

Mercedes-Benz-CLS-2022-engine-failure

Mercedes-Benz is recalling 59,906 GLC, C-Class, CLS and E-Class vehicles manufactured between 24 May 2019 and 20 October 2023 to authorized workshops worldwide. The reason for the recall is that faulty misfire detection can cause fuel injection to be interrupted when exiting sailing mode, resulting in a loss of propulsion.

In an authorized workshop, the software of the engine control unit will be updated.

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) monitors the recall under the reference number “14449R“. The internal manufacturer code is “5496438“.

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
