This week’s recalls:
– Mazda – parking assistant
– Ford – driver assistance systems
– Kia – fire risk

Overview of recalls in the 9th week of 2025

Three recalls for nine models of three makes were published via EU Safety Gate in week 9 of 2025. Two recalls for two models of two makes were published by the German Motor Vehicle Authority (KBA).

One recall each for Alfa Romeo, Kia and Volkswagen can be found in the European Safety Gate system this week.

Ford and Mazda are issuing recalls via the KBA.

Risk of accident when reversing

The presence of an obstacle and the distance to the obstacle may not be correctly indicated by a display or audible signal with 15,262 Mazda MX-5s manufactured between November 2023 and September 2024. In addition, rearward detection of the Emergency Brake Assist (EBS) may cause problems.

Dashboard and driver assistants

Last week, Ford recalled 8,364 Mustangs built in 2024 because of a possible failure of the instrument cluster, which, among other things, no longer displays speed. This week, another 164 cars of the same model and year are being recalled, which may additionally fail various ADAS systems (parking assistance, driver warning including drowsiness and distraction warning, intelligent speed assistant, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking assistant and traffic sign recognition).

Risk of fire

Two weeks ago, we also reported on Kia’s major recall over the fire risk for nearly five million cars. This week, the same action was added to the European Safety Gate system for the newer Kia Carens model range from 2012 to 2018.

Details on this week’s Rapex recalls can be found in the table below.

We write about the KBA recalls in the following articles:

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
