Continental announced a voluntary exchange programme for a total of 7,103 tyres worldwide. In the German market, a total of 745 tyres sold through the tyre replacement business or still in tyre dealers’ inventories are eligible for the programme.
Furthermore, the exchange programme is offered in Austria, Switzerland, Spain, France and Italy. The affected tyres could experience sudden air loss or belt edge separation, resulting in partial or complete tread loss. Continental has proactively initiated this replacement programme to eliminate potential hazards to drivers and other road users, the tyre specialist said to the asp-online.de website.
Up to now, the company says it has not received any reports of accidents or injuries in this context. All tyres eligible for the replacement programme will be replaced free of charge.
