Brake fluid leakage and fire risk with some right-hand drive Volkswagens

Volkswagen-barke-fluid-leak-fire-kba

Volkswagen is recalling 47,487 right-hand drive Arteon, Golf, and Passat vehicles manufactured between 2019 and 2023 to authorised workshops worldwide. Incorrectly installed heat protection mat between the clutch connector of the brake fluid reservoir and the exhaust gas cleaning system can lead to the clutch connector melting and brake fluid leaking, which can lead to a fire.

At the authorised workshop the correct installation of the heat protection mat is checked and the correct heat shielding is restored if necessary.

Volkswagen AG is aware of 54 reports, all cases without accidents or personal injury.

The KBA monitors the recall under the reference number “013456“. The internal manufacturer code is “47U4“.

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
