Two recalls for two models of Suzuki and Subaru brands were announced in the 48th week of 2018. Kawasaki and Harley-Davidson have been added to the motorcycle recalls list. Polaris quads also have to be serviced.
Suzuki Swift produced between 2013 to 2015 may experience braking problems. Due to the engine vibrations, the brake lines and the engine support may come into contact. This may lead to loss of braking performance. If this problem is combined with a rear wheel brake failure from the previous Swift recall (in July 2016 – we wrote here), the risk may be even more serious. Also, while we’re writing about the Swift from 2013 to 2015, we’ll also mention the Rapex recall due to the poorly glued front seat heater which could lead to part of the seat heating going up in flames – we wrote about it in August 2016.
Subaru
Last week, we reported several recalls due to airbag problems with older Japanese cars. They were announced by Toyota, Subaru, Mazda, and Lexus, while they concerned mostly the cars which were older than 10 years. Subaru adds Imprezas produced between 2007 to 2014 this week. As with the others, the passenger airbag gas generator housing may burst and trigger metal fragments when the airbag is activated.
- Common problems by the manufacturer
- Check Recalls by VIN
- Citroën, Hyundai, Porsche… 17 cars on which the bonnet may open while driving
Motorcycles and quads
We also added some motorcycles to our moto-recalls.eu section. Last week saw a recall by Harley-Davidson due to an internal leak in the hydraulic clutch control device, which may mean that the power transmission system cannot be disengaged. It concerns the Softail, Touring, Trike, CVO & Police models made between 2017 and 2018. With the Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX produced in 2018, the main stand may flip open during travel because of an error in the safeguard mechanism manufacturing process.
The owners of two and four-seat Polaris Ranger quads from the years 2015 to 2018 should check the parking brake cable which may be improperly routed and may come into contact with the electrical harness. This can cause premature wear which could create an electrical short.
