BMW recalls 300,000 cars from 2004 and 2005 for airbags

BMW-X3-driver-airbag-recall-kba

BMW is recalling 295,125 Series-1, Series-3 and X3 vehicles manufactured between 2004 and 2005 to authorised workshops worldwide. The reason for the recall is a fault in the gas generator of the driver’s airbag that can lead to uncontrolled deployment when the airbag is triggered and to the release of metal fragments that can injure the occupants.

In an authorised workshop, the driver’s airbag is replaced.

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) monitors the recall under the reference number “14126R“. The internal manufacturer code is “0032600300“.

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
