Battery charging problems with several Mercedes-Benz models

Mercedes-Benz-AMG-GT-2020-2025-battery-charging-problems

Mercedes-Benz is recalling 12,509 AMG GT, GLC, S-Class and SL vehicles manufactured between 2020 and 2025 to authorized workshops worldwide. The reason for the recall is that overloading the high-voltage starter-generator control unit can lead to a failure of the electric drive and the 12V battery can no longer be charged. Further short-term operation with the combustion engine results in increased exhaust emissions.

In an authorized workshop, the software of the high-voltage starter-generator in the affected vehicles will be updated.

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) monitors the recall under the reference number “14868R“. The internal manufacturer code is “5496242“.

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
