Audi and Porsche recall EVs and hybrids again over fire risk (week 4/25)

Overview of the recalls in the 4th week of 2025

Eight recalls for ten models of six brands were issued via EU Safety Gate in week 4 of 2025. Five recalls for five models of four brands were published by the German Motor Vehicle Authority (KBA).

This week, two recalls can be found in the European Safety Gate system for Audi and Porsche, while Alpine, Dacia, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen have one recall each.

Citroen, Mercedes-Benz, Opel and Peugeot are recalling via the KBA.



Audi electric and hybrid cars

The recall for problems with battery modules in Audi e-tron GT first appeared in mid-2024 and was extended again this week. A total of 7,697 cars built between 2020 and 2024 are already affected. This week, Audi is also recalling 44,059 A6 TFSI-e, A7 TFSI-e and Q5 TFSI-e hybrids from model years 2021 to 2023 via the Safety Gate system, as the high-voltage battery may overheat during charging. In all cases, there is a risk of fire.

Battery and axle in Porsche

Similar to the Audi e-tron GT above, the recall is also extended to the related Porsche Taycan. The second recall concerns the Porsche Cayenne produced in May and June 2024. In nearly 12,000 vehicles, the left upper control arm of the front axle may break due to damaged and cracked raw material used in its forging.

Dacia and Mercedes axles

Poorly tightened wheel hubs may cause the rear wheel to fall off on 5,659 Dacia Joggers built between March and October 2024. In the Mercedes E-Class and GLC, the bracket of the rear axle support may be poorly welded. However, this recall only affects 127 vehicles.

VW Caddy and the brakes are back

An improperly bolted left rear brake line on a Volkswagen Caddy can lead to brake fluid leaks and reduced braking performance. This week, the recall from September 2024 has been extended to 3,503 Caddy Maxi vehicles.

Mercedes-Benz GLC (2023) Certain bolt connections in the dashboard area may not be tightened to the correct torque.
Porsche Cayenne (2024) Due to damaged, cracked raw material used during its forging process, the front axle upper left control arm can break.
Porsche Taycan (2018 – 2024) A defect may occur in the cells of the high-voltage battery, which could result in a short circuit.
Volkswagen Caddy (2024) Due to the incorrect screwing of the rear left brake line, a leak can occur where the brake hose is attached.
