Audi A6, A7, and Q5: The HV battery may overheat during charging

audi-charging-overheat-fire-kba

Audi is recalling 53,449 vehicles of the A6, A7, and Q5 model series manufactured between 1. 8. 2019 and 31. 8. 2024. The recall is due to the cell modules of the high-voltage battery which may overheat during charging. There is a risk of fire.

At an authorised workshop, the software for the high-voltage battery is being updated to improve its self-diagnostic capabilities. After the update, specific values measured in the battery will be continuously analysed. If an anomaly is detected, a warning light (battery symbol) will be displayed in the instrument cluster alongside the driver message ‘On-board electrical system: fault! Please visit a service centre”. At the same time, the battery’s charging capacity will be automatically reduced until the fault is rectified.

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) monitors the recall under the reference number “15722R“. The internal manufacturer code is “93AD“.

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
