Volkswagen Crafter: Faulty passenger airbags

VW-Crafter-2006-2017-passenger-airbag-injury

Volkswagen is recalling 23,058 Crafter manufactured between 2006 and 2017 to authorised workshops worldwide. The reason for the recall is that a fault in the gas generator of the front passenger airbag can lead to uncontrolled deployment and the release of metal fragments that can injure the occupants when the airbag is deployed.

In an authorized workshop, the passenger airbag will be replaced.

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) monitors the recall under the two reference numbers “14033R” (2,349 vehicles manufactured in 2006) and “14237R” (20,709 vehicles manufactured between 2007 and 2017). The internal manufacturer code is “69FE“.

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
