Volkswagen Crafter (2005 – 2009)

Published on 28. 10. 2022

Problem description:

The vehicles affected may have been fitted with Takata gas generators which could allow the ingress of moisture and thus result in the degradation of the propellant.

If the airbag deploys, this could cause the gas generator to burst, causing metal parts to enter the vehicle’s interior, and causing injuries to the occupants of the vehicle.

The Volkswagen Crafter models affected by this recall were manufactured between October 2005 and August 2009.

VW recall code: 69AG, 69DG
Affected models: Fox, Polo, Passat, Crafter (type: 5Z, 9N, 3C), Crafter (type 2E, 2F) equipped with Takata airbag
Vehicle numbers (worldwide): 438,728

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a Volkswagen dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.

Check the vehicle's history
