Mercedes-Benz GLE (2018 – 2021)

Published on 13. 11. 2021

Problem description:

The belt tensioner arm may have been manufactured with a borderline tolerance, which could cause one side of the V-ribbed belt to rub against the belt tensioner, causing it to fail.

As a result, the coolant pump may stop working, causing the engine to overheat, thus compromising the impermeability of the oil sump. Consequently, the oil may leak onto the road, posing a risk to the following traffic.

The Hybrid Mercedes-Benz GLE vehicles affected by this recall were manufactured between 4 September 2018 and 17 March 2021.

Mercedes recall code: 2092013
Affected models: Hybrid C Class (BR 205), E Class (BR 213), GLC (BR 253), GLE (BR 167)
Vehicle numbers (worldwide): 2,407

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a Mercedes Benz dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
