Mercedes-Benz GL (2004 – 2015)

Published on 06. 06. 2022

Problem description:

Severe corrosion due to extended time in the field and prolonged exposure to water may lead to a leakage of the brake booster, thus reducing the braking force, leading to an increase in brake pedal force required to decelerate the vehicle and/or a possible increase in stopping distance.

Moreover, due to severe corrosion, a particularly strong or severe braking manoeuvre may cause mechanical damage to the brake booster, preventing the vehicle from decelerating through the service brake and thus increasing the risk of an accident.

The Mercedes-Benz GL vehicles affected by this recall were manufactured between 14 January 2004 and 31 August 2015.

Mercedes recall code: 4290005, 4290006
Affected models: GL, ML, R-Class
Vehicle numbers (worldwide): 993,407

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a Mercedes Benz dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
