Seven recalls of four manufacturers were issued for eight models in the 10th week of 2021 through the Rapex system. Audi and Volkswagen announced one recall each, while Mercedes-Benz had three and Volvo two.
Mercedes Benz announced this week’s largest recall for the C-Class manufactured between March 2014 to February 2018. It covers 270,754 vehicles equipped with four-cylinder petrol engines, with which the windings in the alternator stator could be heated to such an extent that an outbreak of fire cannot be ruled out.
There is also a fire risk with 13,351 Mercedes GLC SUVs with AMG petrol engine and 4MATIC drive manufactured from January 2018 to January 2020. Due to a defective screw connection, the positive 12V battery cable may come into contact with the starter and be damaged by its movement.
The third Mercedes recall was announced for the GLB model, on which the second row of seats may not be properly secured on one side. The second seat row’s fastening might not be ensured with 592 vehicles manufactured between July 2019 and January 2020.
We have already informed you about the poorly welded brake-pedal plate in connection with the Skoda, Volkswagen and Seat. This week, Audi with the Q2 and Q3 models is also being added to the list. Volkswagen also recalls again for the Tiguan Allspace SUV driver’s seat. Last week it was due to a poorly welded tubular frame, while this week due to poor screwing of the entire seat with 39 cars, which came off the production line in October and November 2020.
Volvo recalls more than 10,000 XC40 hybrid SUVs. The high-voltage system may get inadvertently disconnected during driving. This could lead to a loss of propulsion, increasing the risk of an accident. 23,000 Polestar 2 electric cars can have the same problem.
