The recall is pending for 172,000 models of the Mazda3 and CX-30 worldwide. The reason is improper programming of the brake assistant’s control software.
The system called “Smart Brake Support” may recognize obstacles where there are none while driving. In such a case, the vehicle brakes are applied automatically, although no collision is imminent.
A defect may occur with Mazda3 vehicles manufactured between 6 November 2018 and 19 October 2019. The CX-30 models affected by this recall were manufactured from 25 April 2019 to 19 October 2019.
When the recall with the internal code “AK072A” starts and how long the repair will take is not yet clear.
According to the kfz-rueckrufe.de website, the chassis number of each affected vehicle is noted in the Mazda systems and the status can be checked by Mazda dealers and independent workshops.
