Problem Description

Faulty crimping of the micro-gas generator for the seat belt tensioner means that, in the event of deployment of the seat belt tensioner, parts of the gas generator could detach causing injuries to the occupants of the car.

The recall concerns vehicles produced between May 2016 and January 2017.

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you’ll need the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) for your car – this is a 17 characters code that appears on the chassis plate of your car or – on most UK-registered cars – in the bottom-left corner of your windscreen.

You should make contact with a Fiat dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details. Usually that’ll be your nearest franchised dealership, or ‘main dealer’ as they’re sometimes known.

If you wish fully comprehensive vehicle check, with more than 80 data points about the history of the car, then we suggest going to HPI-Check, which provides information on a specific vehicle using also the vehicle registration number.

UK car-owners can easily make a pre-check by visiting DVLA website and entering your car registration number; it will also reveal your car’s current MOT status.

This notification is purely informative for the vehicle type you have selected. As these deficiencies often relate to specific components (engine type, bodywork, equipment), the recall may not apply to all vehicles of this type.
