Ford Custom Vans: The front passenger airbag deactivation

ford-tourneo-custom-airbag-deactivation-kba

Ford sent letters to 9,583 Tourneo Custom and Transit Custom van owners. For vehicles manufactured between 15 July and 13 November 2023, the operating instructions do not adequately describe the operation of the front passenger airbag deactivation, making it unclear whether the airbag is switched on or off. If a rear-facing child seat is used, the risk of injury in an accident increases if the airbag is activated.

An additional sheet is enclosed with the owner’s letter, which must be read and observed. This should then be added to the existing operating instructions and kept in the vehicle (e.g. in the glove compartment).

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) monitors the recall under the reference number “013527“. The internal manufacturer code is “23S62“.

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
