In April 2018, 22 recalls were issued via the EU Rapex system concerning 24 models from 10 automakers. Opel and Renault announced most recalls (4), while Dacia reported three and Peugeot, Citroën and Nissan had two recalls each. At least one recall was reported by Lancia, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar and Ford. 21-year-old (!) Mercedes Sprinter with CNG tanks was the oldest car recalled in April.

Overheating of the engine may occur due to a problem with the engine control software on some Peugeots and Citroëns produced between 2014 and 2015. It concerns Peugeot models 308, 3008, 508, 5008 and Citroën C4, C5, C4 Picasso, DS4 and DS5. A short-term problem was noted with the Peugeot 208 and Citroën C4 produced at the end of November 2017: The screws anchoring the alternator and the air conditioning compressor may not be tightened to the correct torque. The alternator or compressor could release from the engine and fall onto the road.

At the Dacia Dusters made between June to October 2017, a start-stop system may fail.

Opel recalled the 2018 Crossland X due to the possible oil entry into the intake circuit of the engine back in January. In April, Grandland X is recalled with the same defect.

Six of the seven car recalls in the 15th week of 2018 concerned the French-Japanese automobile alliance Renault-Nissan.

The only exception is the Jaguar E-Pace, which does not turn reversing lamps when the reverse gear is engaged. The fault occurs in vehicles with manual gearboxes manufactured from July 2017 to March 2018.

The dipped-beam headlamps may be too low at Renault Clio and Captur models manufactured from the start of production until October 23, 2017. The cause is a possible failure of the headlamp correction system.

Poor sub-deliveries of front wheel hubs may be the cause of another recall announced jointly by Renault, Nissan and Dacia. The front wheel hub could break leading to the front wheel become detached at Renault Clio and Captur (production between 22. – 25. 9. 2017), Nissan Micra (26. 9. – 4. 10. 2017) and Dacia Logan and Sandero (22. – 25. 9. 2017).

Only two Dacia and Ford recalls were announced through the Rapex rapid alert system at the 16th week of 2018.

The first one recall concerns the Dacia Dusters equipped with an after-sales towbar at authorized service, and built between the December 2016 and June 2017. Incorrect contact may occur between the towing harness and the trailer coupling. This could lead to failure of the trailer lights while driving without any warning to the driver. Actually, since the last Duster recall only a few weeks have passed. Start/stop system malfunction was reported at the beginning of April.

The second recall of the 16th week concerns the owners of Ford Ranger pickups made in 2011. The clip fixing wiring harness under the car is located so close to the driveshaft, that it can damage it.

All three recalls announced through the Rapex system at the 17th week of 2018 concern Opel and its current models.

The first recall highlights the incorrectly routed anchor point of the outer rear seat-belts at the model year 2018 Opel Insignia. In case of a frontal collision, this could lead to a higher load than that for which the belt system is designed, or allow the passenger to slip underneath the seat-belt.

The second recall concerns the tow-bar equipped Opel Grandland X. The screws may not have been tightened properly and may become loose. As a result, the tow-bar may detach. The Opel Crossland X, manufactured on September 15, 2017, may have poorly screwed rear wheel hubs.
